Week 5

JOYFUL HOBBIES

Welcome back to Monday Motivation! Today’s focus is all about finding joy through practicing the activities and hobbies we love at home. A couple of weeks ago, we thought about ‘finding our flow’, and today we are returning to the idea of incorporating activities we enjoy into our daily lives.

According to research, leisure activities are linked to several measures of physical and mental wellbeing, including reduced blood pressure and a sense of belonging. What’s more, practicing hobbies and activities allow time for much needed relaxation.

“The greatest happiness comes from being vitally interested in something that excites all your energies.” – Walter Annenberg

Have you returned to your 30 minute ‘flow’ activity from two weeks ago? When you practised it, did it bring you joy? Today’s challenge is to incorporate that, or another hobby you enjoy, into your routine. Don’t just spend half an hour for one day doing it, try to find 30 minutes every day for it – perhaps you could turn it into a project? Keep coming back to an activity that brings you joy.
Half an hour, daily!
