Take Time Tuesday

Week 1

SELF-COMPASSION

Take Time Tuesday

For our very first Take-Time Tuesday, we are focussing on the work of Kristin Neff, author of Self Compassion (2011). Self-compassion refers to giving the same kindness towards ourselves (even if we are experiencing a difficult time) as we would to a good friend. It is considering how you can care and comfort yourself in the moment.

Research has shown that greater self-compassion correlates with lower levels of depression, anxiety and stress. So today, we are looking at ways you might begin to practice self-compassion.

Using a pen and paper, why not try this from Kristen Neff. Consider how you would treat a friend who is struggling. How would you respond and support them? Do you treat yourself in the same way? If not, explore how you might. For more detail click here.
