I always thought that the idea of Happiness had many hidden aspects and sometime taboos. Especially in this day and age where everything is going so fast that we don’t have time to reflect on ourselves or on others:
- Is happiness a one-time thing or a constant variable?
- Is it achievable?
- Is it a crime to say that I feel unhappy sometimes or that I feel unhappy for longer periods of time?
- What is happiness’s relationship with reality?
- Does modern medicine have anything to do with happiness?
This is just a small random selection of the questions I have about happiness. Trust me there are others more scary! Now is the time to explore…
Hi Aris. I think happiness is definitely achievable. But I think if you are unhappy surely that is part of life? Of everyone’s existence? I would question what is below the unhappiness? Or the happiness? Peace love joy? That for me is the constant.
Hi Maria. If happiness/unhappiness is part of the human nature isn’t it normal that they are also part of everyone’s existence? Or at least everyone of us at certain periods of our lives haven’t we experienced both and with different intensity? Absolutely, love, joy are very important too. Moreover all these ideas are interconnected and the meaning of one idea, as a word too, is merged or lost in the meaning of the other word.
There are lots of people say that we only know we are happy as we know what it is like to be unhappy. So surely being unhappy is ok as long as we are also happy.
I agree with that completely. I know that maybe this is not very relevant now but as I am watching the film “Senna” now Ayrton just said that happiness will come when I feel as a whole!
