A heroes party sounds fun, can you imagine the charge of Happyness and positivity in the rom, enough to to blow the roof off.
Yesterday my senses were attuned to actively listening for positive speech. I noticed throughout the day just how much people like giving bad news or embellishing stories that perhaps weren’t quite so bad as they happened. This type of conversation really drew the listeners in and by the end of it they were all telling ‘negative’ things that they had experienced. Just one positive word would have shined out like a beacon of light, but no, the slough of despond just grew bigger.
Observing this made me think, how many times have I joined in a conversation like this, fuelled the fire, surrounded myself in negativity. All too easily done.
Going forward its time to be mindful of how I say things and think before I speak.
I’m logging into Sally’s chat every morning, her positivity is a joy to hear. Really enjoying the 20 min meditation which I find time to do every day. Started the stretch video about 4 days ago and now I do it just before I go up to bed. Sitting in the dark with a candle, Martas voice is calming and peaceful. Thanks everyone for working so hard on the HH.
in reply to: Day 1 – Gratitude – a question #2179I’m grateful for my wonderful acupuncturist who pops the needles in exactly the right place. After the treatment the muscle in my hip is beaten into submission and I can walk properly again.
in reply to: Day 6 – Digital Detox #2127I am sure that this Digital Detox cast a spell in my house, I’m not a big user of modern tech, in fact I’ve only just changed my very old Nokia (all it did was text and phone) to an I phone. The Sky box kept on turning itself on and off, I pad went a bit strange and the phone lost itself for an hour or two! I went with the flow and so far they are all behaving!
in reply to: What Are Your Tips for Being Present? #2126Mindful of trying to be more in the present, I was talking to an elderly neighbour yesterday who if full of local chit chat and instead of thinking about how heavy the shopping was or ‘I have heard this story before’, I realised that when I said goodbye those thoughts hadn’t popped up. on reflection I also enjoyed the conversation much more.
in reply to: Lesson learnt #2067It’s noticing and acknowledging the little things in our lives that we never thought about before that makes us realise just how lucky we are. The more you get into this way of thinking the more you will notice the abundance that surrounds you.
in reply to: What Are Your Tips for Being Present? #2065Not easy as we are so used to our minds wandering. I am sure we all notice when we are talking to someone when their concentration lapses and they are not really listening to what we are saying.
I’ve been told that if I am out to dinner and am not in the present,(perhaps the conversation is boring) I play with the cutlery. Nearly caught myself doing it last night, realised what I was doing and it snapped me right back to being in the moment.
in reply to: Day 2 – Finding Happiness – a question #1827I made a list yesterday, and realised that nearly all of them was things that I haven’t done for ages, a few of them years. Why did I stop if I really enjoyed them and they made my heart sing????
One of them was tap dancing. (no I didn’t fall in the sink, just went with the flow)
I really like the visualisation of the ‘flame of healing light’. Each time I listen to this one the colour changes and seems to concentrate on different parts of my body. Its a peaceful experience and stays with me for quite a while afterwards. I wonder what todays colour will be?
in reply to: How are you getting on? #1772Day 2 of HH reload, achieved 2 meditations and one yoga session, doing another one tonight.
I woke up at 5am this morning with my mind buzzing about the busy day ahead. I then put on Marta’s 20 minute meditation. After a few minutes, the mind chatter stilled and I felt relaxed. When it finished I slept till the alarm. Brilliant!
