About Sallyann Keizer

Hello! I’m Sally, Head of Happyness, as the team calls me. Silly title, I know, but it makes everyone giggle including me, so we’ve stuck with it. I’m the founder of the Happynesshub and I am passionate about our work. I’ve spent years reading about happiness and emotional wellbeing, putting the research into practice, and trying to navigate the ups and downs of life’s rollercoaster ride. My dream is to share the work and the love, for each of of us to fulfil our individual potential, and to ultimately make the world a happier place.

Weekly Words 3rd July

So this week I have moderated two fabulous (zoom) discussion panels within the world of TV. And despite being media orientated, both have covered the areas of mental health, wellness and COVID. What emerged for me personally was that these past 15 months have thrown up so many beautiful connections that simply never [...]

Weekly Words 29th May

“The whole is always greater than the sum of its parts” This is one of my favourite phrases. Originating from Aristotle, some say commonly wrongly interpreted, and far more complex than one may think if returning to original texts. However, as I use it today, it is in reference to that feeling I [...]

So as most of you will know, it’s been a very important week in the Happynesshub calendar - Mental Health Awareness Week! The theme of MHAW 2021 has been ‘Nature’; which for many of us has been so very relevant over this past year, when we’ve been kept apart from our usual entertainments [...]

On Wednesday, I participated in an Instagram Live event with the very special Imad Yassin founder of the Idris Foundation, which undertakes charitable work with refugees around the world. The theme of our discussion (and series as a whole) was ‘compassion’, and some of what we talked about included the story of Mohamedou [...]

Weekly Words 24th April

I’ve been thinking this week about the easing of lockdown, and how things are opening up here in the UK. Many, I am aware, are a bit anxious about this prospect. I personally have been noticing my anxiety levels rise this week for a multitude of reasons. So today’s newsletter includes a few [...]

Weekly Words 17th April

This week’s newsletter contains a few musings on gift-giving. And my quote of the past 7 days from a friend: ‘One step at a time, one heart at a time.’ Flic has a little anecdote about a recent gift exchange with a friend. The other day, I met a friend for a walk [...]

Weekly Words 10th April

This week we have a contribution from the lovely Issy, who so kindly has reflected on her experiences doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s ‘D of E’ scheme, which has enriched the lives of countless young people since Prince Philip set it up in 1956. I had a strange complex when I was younger [...]
